2 Family violence

   Fig. 4-1-3-2 shows juvenile family violence in the last 10 years, by educational and employment situation.
  The number of reported cases of juvenile family violence has been on an upward trend since 1995, standing at 1,386 (an increase of 48.9% from the previous year) in 2000. However, it fell to 1,289 (a decline of 7.0% from the previous year) in 2001. The total number of reported cases of juvenile family violence declined in 2001. By educational and employment situation, family violence by junior high school students was most rampant in the said year.
  Examining the targets of family violence in 2001, the mother was the most frequent target, accounting for 700 cases (54.3%). This was followed by material objects (family property, etc.) with 217 cases (16.8%), the father with 172 cases (13.3%), relatives who live together with 124 cases (9.6%), siblings with 61 cases (4.7%), and others with 15 cases (1.2%) (Source: Community Safety Bureau, National Police Agency).
