2 Imprisonment with labor for life

   Table 2-3-3-2 shows the number of defendants sentenced to imprisonment with labor for life in the ordinary first instance over the last 10 years to 2001, by type of offense.
  The number of defendants sentenced to imprisonment with labor for life in 2001 increased by 19 from the previous year to 88. In particular, the number for robbery resulting in death or bodily injury increased by 15 from the previous year. By type of offense, the percentage of the defendants sentenced to imprisonment with labor for life in all defendants found guilty in 2001 was 2.7% for homicide and 8.1% for robbery resulting in death or bodily injury. In 2001, 3 defendants were sentenced to imprisonment with labor for life for Stimulant Drug Control Law violations and 1 for "indecency/sexual intercourse/bigamy", arson, and Narcotics Provision Law violation respectively (Source: Annual Report of Judicial Statistics).
