Section 2 Correctional Treatment and Rehabilitation of Persons Related to Organized Crime Groups

  3,376 new inmates in1999were members of organized crime groups.20.4%of them were sentenced for one year or less(25.2%for non-members)and72.5%were recidivists(51.8%for non-members).
  A total of 2,450 persons related to organized crime groups were newly received by probation offices(accounting for5.1%of the total number newly received). Of these,149were juvenile probationers(0.6%),230were parolees from juvenile training schools(4.4%),1,648were parolees from prisons(12.4%)and423were on probation with suspended execution of sentence(8.1%).
