Section 6 Rehabilitation Services for Juveniles

1 Release on parole of juveniles

(1)Release on parole from juvenile training schools
  Release on parole from a juvenile training school is permitted when trainees have reached the highest grade in treatment and it is deemed appropriate to place them under probationary supervision in society for their improvement and rehabilitation. It may also be permitted when their performance has improved such that it is deemed particularly necessary to place them under probationary supervision, even if they have not reached the highest grade in treatment.
  Most requests for release on parole are accepted by Regional Parole Boards, with5,226requests accepted(up7.8%from the previous year)and none rejected(no change from the previous year)in1999(see Appendix II-11 ).
(2)Release on parole of juvenile inmates
  Table III-8 shows the number of juvenile inmates sentenced to imprisonment without suspension of execution of the sentence(indeterminate sentence)for whom requests for release on parole were accepted in1999.31requests were accepted and none rejected in1999.
